Dried Flower How-To by Barbara

GCM member Barbara Powers has been creating beautiful dried flower arrangements for years at Hildene. We will learn how to dry flowers and use them in arrangements.

This is a statewide event of greening up Vermont.  Join GCM members by collecting litter along the roadside while enjoying scenic views and the company of others.

Annual Plant, Bake and Tag Sale

All member participation needed for our fundraiser for Civic Beautification and the Scholarship Fund. Dig, cook and clean out to help our club raise funds for these projects.

Annual Bird Walk and Breakfast

We are returning to the Manchester Country Club by request. Many birds can be sighted in the wetlands and ponds.  Bird song and courtship display are in full swing. This is an easy one-mile walk along a smooth path. Breakfast follows at Equinox Village with a program about Super Hummingbirds, the smallest most colorful birds on earth. We’ll watch these great athletes fly backward, upside-down, raise a family and be brave in combat.

The Garden Club of Manchester held its first meeting in the gymnasium of Burr and Burton Seminary. Ten members were present.

GCM member Anne MacLaurin’s husband Anthony knows about gardening! He will take us on a tour of the National Trust of Scotland properties and how an innovative sustainable approach will save Arduaine Garden.

On the hundredth anniversary of the day a talented group of women came together and formed The Garden Club of Manchester, we’ll celebrate with a cocktail party for members, spouses and partners. 1920s attire is welcomed.

The Garden Club of Manchester held its first flower show with 40 exhibitors and 500 attendees

Day Trip to King’s Garden at Fort Ticonderoga

We will explore the six-acre King’s Garden which holds centuries of garden history, savor the fragrant heritage flowers and learn more about the sustainable agricultural practices employed by the caretakers.

Annual Meeting Luncheon and Tour of Rogerland

Roger Cooper and his late wife Sandi created a little oasis in East Arlington of a formal yet whimsical and bucolic garden. They transformed the property to include a Yin/Yang water feature, an Alice in Wonderland Garden, a Vineyard Garden and much more. The staff will prepare an informal lunch.

Amy Howansky, owner of Backyard Solutions in Niskayuna, is a Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional. She will give a presentation sure to make all of us want to visit a nursery to add trees and shrubs to our landscape.

Chris Bowlen of Mettowee Valley Hemp will shed light on the burgeoning hemp and CBD scene in Vermont. He will explain the range of health benefits of the many products his company makes with organic hemp. Maria Reade will emcee.
