2024 Scholarship Award

The Garden Club of Manchester is pleased to announce the winner of this year’s 2024  $3000 scholarship to:

Long Trail School graduate Blake Bishop from Wells, Vermont. Blake will attend The University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the fall, majoring in Pre-Vet & Animal Studies.  Blake is a National Honor Society student and enjoyed playing Varsity Soccer and Varsity Ultimate Frisbee at Long Trail School. In his free time his interests are swimming and animal and vegetable farming.

For more than 60 years The Garden Club has awarded scholarships to students in area schools pursuing an education in:

​

  • Agronomy

  • Agriculture Education

  • Floriculture

  • Horticulture

  • Landscape Design

  • Botany, Biology

  • Forestry

  • Wildlife Science

  • Plant Pathology/Science

  • City (Rural & Urban) Planning

  • Habitat or Forest/Systems Ecology

  • Environmental Concerns (Management: Environmental, Horticulture Resource/Environmental Behavior)

  • Environmental Conservation (inc. Engineering, etc.)

  • Land Management and/or other related or allied subjects.

Currently the criteria for the scholarship is a graduating high school senior enrolled in a college or university pursuing the above course of studies. The scholarship is awarded in June and paid after the student has successfully completed their first semester.  Here is our application.  Along with your application, please include letters of recommendation and school transcript.  We hope you consider applying!

In addition to the Club scholarship, the Federated Garden Club of VT selects one student for the state’s Mabel Mayforth Scholarship, which awards scholarships to college juniors and seniors  and Masters students.  For more info vermontfgcv.com.
