Rewarding Excellence

For more than 50 years The Garden Club has awarded scholarships to students in area schools pursuing an education in:

  • Agronomy

  • Agriculture Education

  • Floriculture

  • Horticulture

  • Landscape Design

  • Botany, Biology

  • Forestry

  • Wildlife Science

  • Plant Pathology/Science

  • City (Rural & Urban) Planning

  • Habitat or Forest/Systems Ecology

  • Environmental Concerns (Management: Environmental, Horticulture Resource/Environmental Behavior)

  • Environmental Conservation (inc. Engineering, etc.)

  • Land Management and/or other related or allied subjects.

Currently the criteria for the scholarship is a graduating high school senior enrolled in a college or university pursuing the above course of studies. The scholarship is awarded in June and paid after the student has successfully completed their first semester.  Here is our application.  We hope you consider applying!

 

The Garden Club is celebrating our 100th anniversary this year.  As part of our celebration to mark this auspicious occasion the 2020 Scholarship award is one scholarship in the amount of $5000.
 

The 2019 Scholarship Winner was Sage Elizabeth Lalor of Manchester Center.  Sage will be attending St. Lawrence University in the Autumn, majoring in Psychology & Environmental Activism

Sage made headlines when speaking in Montpelier on behalf of the plastic bag ban for VT.  Way to go Sage!

In addition to the Club scholarship, the Federated Garden Club of VT selects one student for the state’s Mabel Mayforth Scholarship, which awards $1000 scholarships to college juniors and seniors  and Masters students.  For more info vermontfgcv.com.

National Garden Clubs also gives scholarships to worthy students in the amount of $4000. Specific information can be found here.
