The Garden Club is delighted to announce that Christopher Madsen of Rupert, Vermont, is this year’s scholarship recipient.

​

Christopher graduated from Burr and Burton Academy in June and will be attending the University of Vermont this fall, where he has been accepted into the Wildlife and Fisheries Biology program in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. There, he will pursue his passion for wildlife biology through a program that combines outstanding academics with hands-on field research and experiential learning.

We are proud to support Christopher as he begins this exciting new chapter. His dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to environmental stewardship make him a deserving recipient of this scholarship. We wish him every success in his studies and look forward to seeing all he accomplishes in the years ahead. Congratulations, Christopher!

For more than 60 years The Garden Club has awarded scholarships to students in area schools pursuing an education in:​

  • Agronomy

  • Agriculture Education

  • Floriculture

  • Horticulture

  • Landscape Design

  • Botany, Biology

  • Forestry

  • Wildlife Science

  • Plant Pathology/Science

  • City (Rural & Urban) Planning

  • Habitat or Forest/Systems Ecology

  • Environmental Concerns (Management: Environmental, Horticulture Resource/Environmental Behavior)

  • Environmental Conservation (inc. Engineering, etc.)

  • Land Management and/or other related or allied subjects.

The 2027 Scholarship info and application will be posted here in February of 2027

 

We will include a criteria outline for applying to our scholarship to help streamline the process.  We strongly suggest you review this document before filling out our application.  The scholarship is awarded in June and paid after the student has successfully completed their first semester.  Along with your application please include letters of recommendation and school transcript.  We hope you consider applying!
